Jamie and I had maternity photos last weekend. We had a great time with the photo shoot and you can check them out here:

If you know anyone interested in her photography services, let me know! She's a great photographer and also taught with me at Freedom Hill. :)

5 Weeks til due date - 2 weeks til full term!

This photo is compliments of Jennifer Math -- a fabulous photographer and teacher that I worked with at Freedom Hill. Isn't she amazing? She took a slew of maternity shots for Jamie and I today. We can't wait to see the rest. And for her to photograph our little girl in a couple months!

We've got everything pretty much ready to go except we still need to get the carseats inspected. So that will need to be done soon! I went and got the car detailed today so that it's free of dog hair and dust. No more dogs in the car. Although I'm sure she'll get enough dog hair in her lungs from living with them.....

Jamie and I watched the inauguration of Barack Obama on Tuesday from our living room. I think Jamie was pretty disappointed that we didn't go downtown, but do I really look like I could be without a bathroom for hours? :) It would have been amazing to experience, but maybe not at 8 months pregnant. We're excited about what will come with our new leader.

And of course, we're excited to meet our little girl!

6 weeks left!

Well here's some photos of what's going on in the Lynch household on inauguration weekend. Jamie is trying to give the dog Guiness, and I am lounging around the house in my Obama shirt. In all seriousness, we're very excited to celebrate the end of an error tomorrow, and seeing a president in office that I actually voted for. My hopes are high.

We have the carseats ready to go, enough clothing to get few the first few months, diapers... now what? I guess just waiting for our lives to change forever.

The baby seems to be head down and kicking me in the ribs, which is good news. My parents are in Kenya until the second week of February so the baby needs to wait at least that long to make her grand entrance.

8 weeks to go!

I am back in Fairfax after a wonderful Christmas. As you can see I weigh quite a bit more than I did 2 weeks ago! This baby is growing at a rate of knots. I can't believe she will be here in less than two months!
Today at Trader Joe's I was wearing a winter jacket over track pants and one of the workers asked me when my baby was due, so I must really be showing if she could tell underneath all those clothes!

My goal for the next 8 weeks is to eat less sugar. Seriously. Christmas is a BAD time to be in the third trimester when it comes to my appetite and all the chocolate and cookies everywhere.

I haven't really run much since the 10K about three weeks ago. I don't really have an excuse other than laziness, well that and I seem to get contractions every time I run. Not that they are dangerous (they are just Braxton Hicks) but I'm doing some other forms of exercise just to be on the safe side. I've been swimming and also the elliptical. I'll try the treadmill (I've been away from the gym for two weeks) this week and see how it goes. I miss being able to run til I'm huffing and puffing, all out of breath! (Not the best thing to do in pregnancy... and no I haven't tried it.)

30 Weeks

10 weeks to go!

This kid is doing aerobics, I swear.  Always moving around and making my belly jump.  :)  I wonder if she'll continue to be so active after she is born.

I've got two more days of teaching (why are they making us teach until the 23rd??) and then am off for a week and  a half -- and I'm very ready for a break.  This is really my last vacation before the baby comes and I plan to sleep as much as possible.

I'm still enjoying running (ie shuffling/ waddling) and yoga.  I can't run very far anymore becuase I constantly have to go to the bathroom, but it's nice to just get out there and get some fresh air.

29 Weeks

11 days til Christmas, 11 weeks til baby, and today is Jamie's birthday! It's been a great weekend... Friday night we relaxed at home and Jamie cooked an authentic "Aussie Lamb Roast." Yesterday I slept in until 10:45am (I NEVER do that!) while Jamie went over to the shopping center and got a Christmas tree. He did most of the decorating this year, and it's so nice to have our house smelling all piney.

This morning I got up at 6:15am and headed downtown for the Jingle All The Way 10K. The weather was fabulous (not TOO cold, and it was bright and sunny) and the running crowd was great -- when we ran under the metro overpass, the whole crowd starting singing Jingle Bells -- it always amazes me how we end up in the same key! -- and the runners were all decked out in Santa hats, reindeer ears, etc. Lots of fun. My 10K time stunk, okay, I admit I have totally slacked off in the longer runs (like anything over 3 miles) so I can't really complain. I think I finished in 76 minutes. Blech. But I'm pregnant, that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

Jamie and I are headed out tonight to Ray's the Steaks which supposedly has some of the best tasting steaks in DC. This is his birthday present (that and I also went to World Market and got some Aussie wine, candy bars, vegemite, and licorice.) Our last birthday without baby. Our last Christmas without baby in a week and a half. I can't believe this is our 8th Christmas together... time flies.

Welcome to Trimsester Three

The third trimester begins!

Well this is what is new this week:

1.  Running now HURTS a little bit -- because my big old belly is bouncing up and down.  Apparently you can buy something kind of like a tummy sports bra so I'm going to look for that, because I definitely want to stay active and the elliptical machine bores me to tears.

2.  Childcare searching is a job in intself.  The economy may be down, but it seems like there is quite a market in childcare -- waitlists are long.  Just started interviewing -- the woman I originally interviewed needed a desposit to hold my place, and I just wasn't ready to do that yet having not interviewed anyone else, so I'm back to the drawing board.  I still have nine months until I need a provider, and I'm already getting nervous.

3.  My BACK HURTS!  I have my first ever chiropractic appointment on Monday.  Let's hope he can help?

4.  This baby is coming in about 12 weeks -- and I'm starting to get nervous!  12 weeks isn't a very long time!  I am always going in between I-can't-wait and I'm-terrified-not-ready-yet.  However as I get bigger every day, I have a feeling I'll be solidly ready for her to come out, neet her mom and dad, and give me my body back as we get closer to the due date.   I just hope we have everything all set in the house by then.
